Many people who live near the ocean, or large lakes, own sailboats. However, most people do not. In fact many people have never sailed before but would like the opportunity to try it. Companies have realized this fact and have been offering sailboat charters for years.

There are many different places that you can rent a sailboat from a charter company. These places include the Virgin Islands, Bahamas, Florida, North Carolina, and more. You can even obtain a sailboat charter in many locations around the Great Lakes areas. No matter where you live, or vacation, if there’s water there is probably a sailboat charter company nearby.

You can rent a sailboat for a day or up to a few weeks. There are also different types of charters you can rent. One type is the bareboat. The bareboat is when you rent just the sailboat and take it out yourself. If you do this kind of charter you will have to show you have sailing experience or take a class that certifies you for sailing. You can also get a crewed charter. A crewed charter is when the sailboat comes with a captain and crew to navigate the boat on your trip. Obviously the crewed charter typically costs more but it allows you the free time to enjoy the views and check out the ship.
